The Finished Piece

I finished the piece I had shown you in the previous post. Some of you guessed just right...........it's a pillow case.
I have had this transfer design for many years and have always wanted to stitch it up.
I placed a simple cloth border on this pillowcase and then added some "free hand" embroidery............or that is what I call this.

I also placed the design in the middle this time, rather than at the end of the pillowcase. Whenever I am embroidering a large design, I have found it looks really pretty in the center of the pillow..............a little more decorative. How about you? Do you prefer designs in the middle or along the bottom part of the pillowcase? I would love to hear!

I love what you did with the border. Wow, such a simple touch, but a big impact.

Blessings,

The embroidered pillowcases on my house actually get used. They are not just for decoration purposes. Because of that I like the design on the edge of the pillowcase, keeping smooth cotton cloth where my head/face are. But I like your idea of embroidering the center , where the design is more visible, if they are going to be used for decoration purposes.

it sure is beautiful. I would like the center if just using it for decoration. For sleeping, maybe on the edge. I like the border with the free-hand too.

I love your pillowcase. If I could get myself to embroider it would not matter where I put it, just so I finished it'

Looks great. The combination really works well.

If I were to use them, I'd flip them so the embroidery would be on the bottom for sleeping, then flip them back for show during the day.

You do such beautiful work, I think the embroidery could be anywhere and look stunning! I bet your home is a joy wherever you look, Kathleen. I like to imagine you having your work out where you can see it all the time. Bless you today.

i have not thought of having the design in the middle of the pillow case...but it makes sense as one can see it better.

I found some old pillowcases that had a design as a border all around the pillowcase. I like that too. This is very pretty tho, and I love the different border you added and stitching. I have a king size bed and I buy some pre stamped cases to stitch some time. But of course those are standard size and dont fit the king pillows. So Ive been putting on contrasting king pillow cases first followed by the standard embroidered ones. It makes them look bordered and often makes the beautiful edgings stand out even better.

But I like this idea too of adding another fabric to make a border. Great stuff!

I'm an 'on the edge' kind of gal. Not sure why, maybe because that is all I've ever known. I love the border that you did with the meandering vine on it. Clever.
