This year I am looking forward..................

but also looking back. Not in the sense that we all usually associate with the New Year holiday and the past...........
no, this year I look forward to all of the new possibilities that wait for me to explore and to research.............
new stitches, new teaching methods, new projects to jump into.
I am looking back over the decades of embroidered linens filled with vintage charm........
I am working to incorporate that charm into my embroidery.
Something new............yet nostalgic...........with a hint of
yesteryear.
How about you?  Do you tend to look back over the past year with regret.............or perhaps with fond memories?
Or are you looking forward with anticipation..................maybe excitement?
I would love to hear.
Happy New Year
dear blogging friends!

Beautiful post... hmm I don't think I have ever let regret linger... I look above and realize that "All things work together for good to them that Love the Lord" ...the older I get the more I realize that each new year has to be lived to it's fullest...and embraced whatever it may bring:)

Hi Kathleen! Very pretty image to go along with your post. And that chair you picked up at the dump is gonna be magnificent when you do your magic on it. Can't wait to see how it turns out. No regrets here. Can't dwell on the past. Just gotta take one day at at time and keep moving forward. Best wishes for the weekend and a great start to the new year. Tammy

I learn everything I can from the past, but look forward with hope and anticipation. This last year has been a rough one, but also a blessed one, and I'm looking forward with anticipation to all the wonderful things 2012 can bring. :)

Look forward to the new year. Look back at the past year long enough to know you are glad to be, where you are right now.

Lovely thoughts in this post.

I seldom look back. I think I learn from mistakes and try not to revisit them. I carry the good with me everyday and look forward (as in the next day) AND look forward (with anticipation) to what new adventure or lesson I will find.

I am excited to be part of on line stitching groups this year and the hope they will keep me focused.

Happy New Year!!

I just love seeing your beautiful embroidery. Keep it coming. In a moment of deep grief I gave my thread away. Now I wish I had kept it. I guess there's always the embroidery store!!

I think you should always look forward to the future with anticipation.
Have you noticed as you've gotten older that you seem to have lived several different lives? Childhood, college, work.....I've been through that, the military, being a Goth, being ill, being an embroiderer...and I wonder what I will become in the future....

Best wishes for the new year,

Kathleen, one thing I do look forward to this year, is seeing more of your beautiful work and the new stitches you'll be trying.

Happy New Year!!

Blessings to you, as well, Kathleen! Yes, though I met age 60 with some annoyance and though I worry about the future of this country, I do have to say that I look forward to a productive and very sweet year of sharing and having time with my family. I want to start painting again, and writing. I want to do a lot of more quilting and embroidery....If all goes well, this should be a very good year indeed.
