Sharing a common thread with those who love the art of hand embroidery

Tuesday, March 5, 2013

It seems sometimes, that the days fly by so quickly,

and even though, I spend a good part of the day..........
stitching........
I don't always make a lot of progress..........but this is the path of hand embroidery.............
so much time spent, working hundreds of stitches.
As you might remember, I showed the speckled pink flower in a post or two back

as I work on a new pillowcase design. I don't have a color scheme set out for this particular pattern.
I love how the color of orange can perk up any design.............
don't you?

I am picking a section that I want to stitch and then pick the colors for that section as I go.
Blue and yellow always seem to go together well.........
don't you think?

I am enjoying this process and anticipate a pillowcase set........
full of color.

I am hearing that a cold front is moving in, the wind has already started to blow...........
and I often think of this verse on cold days as this..............

Buttons and patches and the cold wind blowing,
The days pass quickly when I am sewing.
Author Unknown

I hope that this finds you in warm and pleasant weather.............
or somewhere, warm and pleasant.........
stitching the day away!
I love to hear!

The color of orange does seem to perk up a design, and a flower garden, as well. I like your windy day quote. A strong wind is blowing here today; just perfect for sewing.

Love the verse! Your embroidery is so pretty, I know what you mean about the yellow and blue, my two favorite colors! I anticipate seeing your cases finished!

The colors you are using are so pretty together. I like to just decide as you go with the colors too. More like nature, don't you think.
Love the quote from the unknown author.

We had a wind storm here through the night yesterday. It was really a doozie.
We woke several times to outside items falling over. Today was cooler and still windy.
88 yesterday and 58 today.
Crazy!!
Hope you have a nice evening. Thank you for stopping by and your kind comment. Always so special to see you.
Hugs, Celestina Marie

The days do fly by so quickly, but some of my best days are spent indoors stitching while the weather rages. In your case, the stitching is well worth the time, and a treasure.

The colors are perfectly together. I think you have a talent for that, even if you don't plan it out ahead of time. I love the stitches you chose!

We just got about 4 inches of snow here in IN. Yuck!

I can't wait to see the pillowcases, too. Of course I have the patience to wait has you so meticulously lovingly sew your stitches. The colors are really giving it life, and since you don't really have a color scheme planned, it will be fun to see how the colors come together...you have great instinct.

It is low humidity today, sunny, and in the 40s at the moment. I am enjoying this cooler weather, because our summers here are usually extremely hot, humid, and long. I do like the little poem you posted.

Have a colorful day,

The way you work colors together is fantastic. I tend to be more of the type that needs to be told what color floss to use. I always enjoy looking at your work.

Do you draw your patterns free hand? So pretty. You have an eye for picking colors. I always have a hard time with that. One of the reasons I don't do big cross-stitch projects is because of the time involved. I'm much happier with quick projects that can be finished in a short period of time. Did you get the predicted cold weather? It's already getting hot here. Wishing you a wonderful weekend. Tammy
