The pillowcase design I have shown to you

and have been embroidering on for the past few weeks,
(click on photos for a better view)
is finished! It is full of flowers, blossoms, and vines.
It looks like a crewel design, but it worked up perfectly in regular hand embroidery stitches.........
don't you think?

As  I stated in earlier posts, I did not have the colors already picked out.............

I chose the colors as I moved along from leaf to flower............

trying to keep the colors different..............

yet, trying to make them all blend and balance for the design.

There was such an array of different petals................

and leaves....................

and even a shy snail, gliding along..............

and a butterfly darting above it all.
I placed this design in the very center of the pillowcase............

and embroidered a smaller design on the very edge.

a pretty tulip or rose looking flower..........

with  a spray of daisies.

This allows the embroidery to be seen as on top of the pillow, with a pretty embroidered edge.
Now I am in the process of deciding on what crocheted edging I want to place on the very edges. I am not sure if I will place a fabric inlay on the edge..............
What do you think?

Oh, it's sooo lovely, Kathleen. I think all the colors worked beautifully together. The little snail is such a nice touch, along with the butterfly. I love the swirling of the flower tendrils...my you did that beautifully!

That's a hard question. The crochet edging would look beautiful alone or with a fabric inlay - I'm thinking you mean fabric behind the crochet? I'm not sure. But I know whatever you decide it will be perfect for the design.

I want my whole house to be filled with these types of pretty vintage linens, because they are so cheery to me.

Blessings for a wonderful day,
Marianne xo

Oh my! You are so talented! I'd never think to add all the beautiful extras to my work.

I know whatever you decide will be gorgeous; however, it seems to me a fabric inlay might take ones eye away from the embroidered stitching.

Your work is truly gorgeous. I love the colors that you used as you went along. I have alwahs loved a crewel work style and this is lovely.
For the edge, I know you will create it to be perfect.

Beautiful creation my friend.

Thank you for stopping by. Have a nice weekend.

Just lovely. I adore and appreciate all the "hand-work", you don't see many people still doing this. Really beautiful work
