Going into the nurseries at the local stores can be so inspiring! The Hibiscus plants are every where and in such brilliant colors! I always seem drawn to the pink ones!{: I had an Hibiscus plant a couple of years ago. It did well at first and then died. Do any of you have one. How do you care for it? Is it an inside or outside plant.
I did different stitching on this towel with different pinks and greens. What is your favorite Hibiscus color?

I did something different to this towel. I ran a blanket stitch all the way around and then on the bottom edge, I crocheted an edging. I have stitched so many of these little towels and I always give them away to visiting friends or family. I keep thinking I will someday have some stacked up to sell,..... maybe one day. The joy I get from giving them away can't not match the dollar mark!{:
They are just beautiful, Kathleen- how I wish I could do things like that; I really admire your talent.

I've never had a Hibiscus....all I know is they have a gorgeous flower...I'm really fond of the coral/orange flowers....hard choice though. Hugs, Linda

I love Hibiscus plants. I have a HUGE one that is white and I have one in a pot in my patio that is bright red. I noticed they like alot of water and not full sun. The other day one caught my eye in the nursery, it was hot pink. I think I need that one! You can also buy them from Burpee online. I love your stitchery work. Very pretty!
ReplyDeleteOh that's just gorgeous, Kathleen. I really love the colors! And the blanket stitch is my FAVORITE... I love doing machine applique and using a blanket stitch around the edge. The crochet is a beautiful little detail... those towels will truly be a treasure to the lucky person that gets one!
ReplyDeleteJust ran across your blog and enjoyed the visit. Your work is beautiful, and I also enjoyed the sewing machine post. I have one very similar to it as well as a newer one that doesn't make nearly as nice a stitch as the older machine makes.

I have a Hibiscus that's been in our front yard (west side of the house) for several years. It dies back, every winter, & comes back twice as thick every spring. It's sort of a scarlet red, but the main thing is to get one listed as a hardy variety. I just water it when the leaves start wilting.

Ps: I planted a small, pink hibiscus in my front yard. It doesn't seem to like it when it gets windy, but it's doing ok for now. I'm new to the San Antonio, TS area, so we'll see how I do with gardening.

I just sat here staring at your morning glories on your sidebar...I love mg's so much, and your design and handwork is just incredible!! I would buy them in a heartbeat!
