Work In Progress

I began a new piece to embroider on this weekend................
It has a tiny blue bird sailing over..................
With lots of clusters of Forget - Me - Nots................

And large petal shaped leaves......................

That go with beautiful roses................

This is the kind of embroidery I love the most.
I can't wait to finish it and to show you what the project is.................or have you already guessed what linen this is being embroidered on?
How about you? Have you started any new project lately? Are you embroidering,? getting out your paint brushes,?...........or is that the sound of knitting needles I hear? Let me know............I always love to hear!

*Just to let you know, because some of you are asking.......all of the stitches in this project are the basic outline stitch in embroidery and short and long stitch. Hope this helps.

  1. Kathleen, this is so pretty and all my favorite things. Pink roses, blue birds of happiness and sweet little Forget-Me-Nots. I'm not sure what you are stitching but I do know it will be gorgeous and I can hardly wait to see it....hugs, Linda

  4. Hi Kathleen,
Your work is absolutely stunning. I love following your blog coz it teaches me a lot of new stuff about embroidery. I was just wondring about the stitch used for the blue bird. Is it a running stitch?

  5. Your stitching is an inspiration to me, Kathleen! I am not the world's neatest stitcher, and when I can see close up pictures of better workmanship, it helps me see where I can improve my own work. I've only been doing cross stitch and embellishing a crazy patchwork block lately, but I have a couple of UFOs that are traditional embroidery, and I'm looking forward to working on them soon.

This is such a lovely piece of work. I just love the roses, blue birds, and Forget-Me-Nots. I look forward to see the piece completed. I know it will be just fantastic. You do such lovely work. My mom used to do a lot of handwork, too.
