in front of my greenhouse
a mesquite tree, just like the many others that are here on the farm grounds,
but for some reason,
out of all of those trees,
this is the only one that has a lovely bunch of mistletoe growing on it. It started out last year and I have watched it in anticipation
and was so delighted to see it looking like this the other day. Of course, my creativity has kicked in and I can envision satin stitched leaves in sage green with pearl clusters for the mistletoe berries to stitch...........what do you think??
A heavy snow blew in and covered the grounds and the mistletoe in the early morning hours
and the trees are now dressed in their sparkling array of frozen leaves and branches.
I'm in between stitching projects right now, but the inspiration is overflowing.
How about you? Are you underneath a snowy blanket?
Are you finding inspiration to create something from Nature's beauty?
I would love to hear!
Kathleen, your first and last photos are enchanting! Oh, to see real mistletoe in its natural surroundings! That must be exciting.
ReplyDeleteI think the mistletoe would be beautiful in embroidery. Looking forward to seeing it.
Enjoy the snow for me, too...
Marianne
Yes, I'd love to see the green leaves and pearls done in embroidery stitches!
ReplyDeleteWe have no snow, just lots and lots of rain, with water standing everywhere, and drab skies. Such a contrast to last summer!
Great pictures...especially like your close-up shots of the mistletoe. I have no doubt you will be wielding your talents to reproduce it on cloth and look forward to seeing it.
ReplyDeleteWonderful picture of mother nature and a breath of winter . Will the mistletoe survive the frost? I'm sure you will put this on cloth.
ReplyDeleteLove seeing that mistletoe!! Beautiful pictures...yes we have snow...cold and snow...although it is only going to get colder by Wednesday!
ReplyDeleteHow beautiful!! I am so wanting snow and we are having the warm winter....65 and it should be 35! so I will enjoy all the winter pics I can.!! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous winter wonderland where you live!!! And the mistletoe is so pretty! Yep, I can see that stitched on some linen right now. It's a wonderful inspiration! Hope you have a snowy, beautiful Christmas! We may have to go back on the mountain to see some snow!
ReplyDeleteWow! Snow in TX. Do you normally get a lot of snow in winter? Or does it go just as quickly as it came? I love that you are always able to translate your surroundings into beautiful stitchwork. Have a great weekend. Tammy
ReplyDeleteBRRRR - that looks so cold!! I just can't imagine anything surviving in that snow! But our native Australian plants thrive on bushfires, whereas fires like that would probably kill off all your plants that love the snow.
