As most of you read in my earlier posts, I really loved this design and embroidered it in different shades to give it a nostalgic charm. I knew I had to incorporate it somewhere into my home...........
I decided that it would be wonderful stitched onto towels for the bathroom!
I bought dark red over sized bath towels, along with a small hand towel.
Isn't this lovely?
(remember, you can click onto the photos for a better view)
I used floral print fabric as a border to the design......
and I also used a smaller and slightly different design for the small hand towel................
which I also love!
If you remember, as well, I posted about making a stamped design come to life with a few more stitches? I worked it in dark yellows, and found the perfect hand towel in a rust color to stitch it on.
I used a vibrant floral fabric for the border on this design.
Now my bathroom will have a romantic country look to it with these towels.
How about you? Have you embroidered the design yet?
If so, what color did you choose and what are you going to use it for?
I would love to hear!
Kathleen, these are gorgeous!!! I love the fabrics that you mated with the embroidery designs...simply irresistible! You'll have to put a timer in your bathroom because your guests won't want to come out.
ReplyDeleteOh, I'm working on another project. I think I have too many which all want to be completed. Do you ever feel like that?
Blessings for enough time to creative,

ReplyDeleteHi,
ReplyDeleteI just found your site and it is absolutely lovely! I also love doing hand embroidery. Your towels and really everything you have done in the past are just beautiful, you do such a nice job. Can you tell me what type of floss you like? I am thinking about carrying Cosmo in my Etsy shop but am not sure if there is a demand for it. Thanks, and it is so nice to meet you! I'm your newest follower.

Kathleen,
ReplyDeleteI really am agonizing over this, because I don't want to put out the initial investment if there is no demand. I will be filling my shop with my patterns as I make them and some fabric and ric rac :) It is taking me so long since I care for my mom and she has been having a harder time this last couple years. I would absolutely love to carry a good quality floss. I love the hand-dyed flosses, but don't use them on many projects since they are not colorfast. Of course I want to be able to wash things like pillows, embroidered clothing, quilts, etc. They have sent me several sample skeins and it does feel very nice and has a nice sheen. They claim once you use it you won't want to go back to the others. Apparently, when stitching with a long strand of floss it does not look any worse at the end then when you started out You know how after pulling through the fabric multiple times other embroidery flosses sometime looks a little "worn out" should I say? Does that make sense? This floss was made in Japan I guess. You know they do tons of stitching and handwork and I am thinking if they love it it must be good. I haven't had a chance to try it yet, but maybe I will today on one of my county fair projects! It is just a little more expensive though, so that is why I am debating. Maybe you could email me your address privately and I could send a skein to you and get your opinion, since I would definitely consider you an expert. Actually I could send you several if you think you know a couple other people who would be willing to try it to give their opinion. Let me know! Thank you so much for visiting my blog and leaving such a lovely comment!!! I'm honored you stopped by!!!
