yet, before you know, years have rolled by and you still haven't even started working on that dream?
That is how it has been for me. I have always wanted to to make this shed either into my embroidery studio or a shop where I could sell my embroidery along with other vintage things that I find along the way. All of these years, it has been used for every thing except for what it needs to fulfill my dream. It has housed baby chicks, baby ducks, a few mama cats and their kittens and all of the extra debris that I don't want in the house. Now that the children are all grown and have flown away, it is holding all of their things that they left behind. However, now that the children have flown away, my dream of having a vintage shop has been calling out even more. And now, I have announced it out loud to friends and family...............and now after all of these years.................it is finally going to be
my vintage shop...........appropriately named..............
Yesteryear.
Since my studio is called Yesteryear Embroideries.............this will be the sister shop to it.

I have been busy this past year, picking, buying and stashing away wonderful things like these vintage needlepoint pictures.
I was lucky enough to find them waiting on me as I opened the door of a little shop that sells an array of things I love.
The needlepoint is quite old and has one flaw in this picture only. In the upper right of the large rose, some stitching is gone.
This one shows just enough wear to make it shabby vintage.
I plan to sell vintage linens, along with my own hand embroidery
and I also plan to sell vintage pressed glassware that I love! I have my own personal collection of this kind of glassware and use it constantly.
I am hoping to spark passion for this as well as the use of vintage linens in my potential customers.
To make this dream of mine blossom, I have a lot of work to do. I have to remove all of the saved mementos and debris and move it into another storage.
I have several pieces of old furniture that I am stripping and painting to display all of these things in my shop. I need to paint the shop inside and out. I need to replace cracked windows and torn screens and I am in search of the perfect vintage screen door for the door of my shop.
I hung the needlepoint on the wall of my studio and am delighted at the vintage charm it gives to a space. Now work is slowly getting done................I hope to have my shop ready and stocked by spring of next year. I live very far out away from people, so customers dropping by will be slow at first. I am also selling on line.....................hopefully after folks start knowing that I am here, I will get a few to stop by.
How about you? What are your dreams and desires that you have put off?
What's keeping you from making them come true?
I would love to hear!
Kathleen, this is grand! I wish you much success with your shop!
ReplyDeleteI used to wish I had a special place to call a studio; now I'm satisfied with a bedroom turned sewing room. Maybe the fact that I'll soon be 73 years old took that desire from me. :)
Oh how exciting... I would love to visit if I'm ever in your area!!!
ReplyDeleteThis is wonderful--------Live Your Dream.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on fulfilling your dream! I'm sure you will have so much fun getting things ready and running your shop.
ReplyDeleteHow exciting, I'm so happy for you! I love those needlepoint roses, they are gorgeous! I wish we lived close enough to come see your new shop!
ReplyDeleteI always wanted a shop as well. Dad had a hauling business which many treasures were found.. I sold at fleamarkets and have a million garage sale sidewalk sales.. but in my heart I always wanted a vintage shop.. but never got there. Not sure that I can ever fulfill that dream.. but I sure wish you the best.. your things are lovely I'm sure maybe will come as they get to know how wonderful and sweet you are and all your lovely work that you do.. Happy Monday with love Janice
ReplyDeleteI am excited to see your shop!! Best wishes for your new shop!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a perfect little shop! I know you are going to have fun with this...a dream come true!
ReplyDeleteOH, Kathleen, I am sooo excited and happy for you. The shed looks exactly like a perfect quaint cottage type shop, and I know it will be wonderful! And don't worry about it being "out of the way" for customers, because it's known that when people have a favorite spot they will travel to get there and bring friends along too. Keep us up on how it's coming along. You are a real inspiration.
ReplyDeleteMany blessings on fulfilling your dream,
Marianne xo
I think that is fabulous! And wish you well! My dream is just to get things cleaned up and organized here at home. I was away for a month and now back for a week but haven't done much of anything since I started back to school right away. Best of luck as you continue along the path to your dream. :) Tammy
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on taking a step toward your dream. I suspect you are just the person to make your dream come true. There is a dream fulfilled with just such a shop as this in LaPorte Indiana...in the country..called The Flying Pig. Marvelous place. When you are ready to open, some well placed advertising will bring them to you...Like they say..Build it and they will come.
