A cardboard box sat on the floor of a resale shop...........

it's flaps pushed open just enough for me to see roses.
Vintage dishes with roses. I posted about this beautiful set a few months ago,

showing you the design I created and embroidered to match the dishes on a tablecloth.
Well the tablecloth is finished ..........

and I made a set of 6 napkins to go with it out of this beautiful rose print fabric . I finished the edges in a buttonhole stitch to match the thread in the tablecloth. I had planned to sell these in my vintage shop...........

instead.........
they are on their way to San Francisco. One of my readers fell in love with them the first time I posted about them and told me that  when I was finished with the embroidery, to let her know.  I am so delighted that they are going to a beautiful home where someone will really enjoy using them!
Now these once loved dishes have a new life to be loved all over again!
This is what gives me joy, most of all in the embroidery work I do. I love hearing that you are picking up a project that you had put away, ...........awhile back, and are inspired to start stitching on it again.
I love knowing that you enjoy using embroidered linens and vintage dishware to serve your family dinner with!
So now you have me wondering...................
who among you still use linens or dishware for your family meals??
With all of the pretty paper products that are available.........
how many of you choose to use those in your fast and hurried life?
Tell me!

  1. I gave up many years ago, as I have only boys, and they didn't appreciate these type linens, and they were very messy with them, so I have them in my hope chest. I really love what you have done with copying the design of the plate! Really awesome work!!!!

  2. This is a gorgeous combination, and someone is very fortunate to take possession of them. I use vintage tablecloths, not only to look nice, but also to protect my table. Now and then I will take out pieces of my Homer Laughlin collection to eat from. We only use paper plates when there are too many to wash dishes for. lol

    Much success to you, Kathleen!

  3. Congratulations, Kathleen! Your work is so beautiful and deserves loving homes where they will be appreciated. I'm so glad that lovely rose set is one its way to one.

There are many lovely paper items out there, but they can not take the place of lovely linens.

Thank you for your dear visit and comment. Truly appreciated.

    Blessings,

  5. I do wish you could see my home, Kathleen - you would not believe the amount of linens I have around - and with the blessing of my hubby! Doilies and runners on every available surface, duchess set on the dressing table, cloths on both kitchen and dining room tables. And of course APRONS (lol).
I rotate everything now and then, when I notice the dust has built up and the linens need washing - ha!

  6. I love the rose embroidery that matches the dishes. It makes me want to look in my dining room hutch for ideas to embroider. Your blog is always wonderful.

  7. Gorgeous! Both the dishes and the tablecloth, and well the napkins too. It all looks so lovely together. I just love them! Yes, I use my linens and cloth napkins whenever I can. Your embroidery is always such an inspiration, Kathleen! I haven't been embroidering lately....but, I just finished a queen-sized quilt for my daughter....my very first one of that size, and my first freemotion machine quilting. Hope you will go by my quilt blog and check it out when you can.
