whether to sell the beautiful antique linens I find along the way...........
or to keep them for my collection........
when I opened my vintage shop.
For years......all I ever dreamed about was owning my own linen shop and selling hand embroidered linens such as these above. Now my shop is open..........
This is a set of intricately embroidered napkins and place
mats....
that have never been used.
Each piece has it's label still on it........
"Pure Linen embroidered in Portugal"
can I bear to sell them??
I have my own collection of beautiful linens much like these........
in an old trunk that had once belonged to my grandfather. The trunk is almost full..........
So I should be able to easily sell the newest things I find.........
Someone once told me when I first opened my shop that I had to decide whether I was
"married to the piece or not."
So I made the decision this week..........
to weed through the ones I would not miss if I sold them.............
and I placed all .......in these photos...........in my Etsy shop.........
to sell
But how hard it is to really let them go when I see them on my dining room table like this!
How about you?
Do you collect wonderful antique linens?
I have posted a vintage recipe from Ann Pillsbury 1950

I have some old bits and pieces. Yours are really lovely. It's hard to get rid of loveliness.
ReplyDeleteHave a great week ~ FlowerLady
Oh My~~ so hard to part with these gorgeous linens. You have some beautiful pieces for sure. So nice to see you and have your following. Thank you so much. Wishing you a wonderful evening and thanks for stopping by.

Thank you for asking about me. Yes, I'm am ok. Just haven't been able to blog lately. Can't seem to gt my thoughts out of my head onto my keyboard.
ReplyDeleteI love old linens! You would have enjoyed the shop I went into last week. Oh My! 3+ rooms full of linens of all kinds.
Hope you have a good evening.
These are gorgeous, Kathleen! And I understand how hard it must be to part with your lovely finds. I'd be wanting to keep almost everything! Sometimes I do that with things I create. I create something special particularly as a gift for someone, and then I'm tempted to keep it for myself. Usually I give it to the intended party, so it's quite a sacrifice in giving. But I'm always happy I did. I will have to visit your Etsy shop again, soon, when I have some time. The set you said you were putting there is lovely. I'll also have to check out the recipe you spoke of.
ReplyDeleteThank you for visiting me today and leaving those sweet comments. My days off this week are separated so my time is rather rushed this week.
Blessings my friend, for a lovely evening,

Hello Kathleen,
ReplyDeleteSuch a hard decision, I would be using them for myself until you find some different ones to love. It is lovely to see the full set of lines, so often there are some missing. I say enjoy them while you can.
Happy days.
Bev.
I have a lot of beautiful table linens, and I feel the same way. I don't know if can part with them or not. They are all so pretty, some like the first ones shown.
ReplyDeleteSuch lovely linens! I can understand how hard it is for you to let them go, but know that whoever purchases them will love them as much as you do. They will enjoy them for many years and may even pass them down. That should gladden your heart!
ReplyDeleteYour collection is so pretty....you are brave to let them go! I do collect old lace and tatting. My grandma tried to teach me to tat-wish I had stayed with it. One of the reasons I love those old linens is because they remind me so much of her. It is such a good thing to keep those traditions going, and to teach the young ones how to do them too.
ReplyDeleteKathleen, I don't know how you part with anything. It wouldn't be good for me to have a store like yours, I would be wanting to keep everything. That is a very beautiful set of linens, they look so nice on your table!
ReplyDeletelovely
ReplyDeleteIt would be really hard to part with ANY of them!!!:-) Saving the family pieces are most important though, of course.
ReplyDeleteThis is beautiful work. Your collection is so pretty. I love old lace and tatting.
