It was wonderful to read all of your comments in my past post

about what you do when  your husbands get to retire!
I am now in the middle of a larger project.........that will take a few more stitches
and a lot more time.  In the meantime, it you glance over at this photo

on your right.......and then click onto it.......
or click on this link    My Handmades
it will take  you to my " gallery" of my embroidery
that I have completed.
Lots and lots of stitches across the hours of time!
Most of the embroider I have worked, has either been given away or sold......
so
I'm not using it as a blog........more of an eye candy......reminder..... where I can
look over what I have already stitched and to get ideas to
make something different.
How about you?  Have you stitched............painted......created..........and then given
most of it away?  For Christmas......birthdays.........friendship gifts?
I would love to hear!

  1. Most of my work is on shelves, waiting to find a new home. I have quilts for all my grandchildren and baby quilts for great grandchildren, should I ever have any. Last fall my daughter took some of my doll quilts to the War Eagle craft fair and sold a few along with an apron or two. It made me feel good to know someone thought they were good enough to pay money for them. :) so, I just continue making things and "hoarding" them. :) :)

  2. I do a lot of crafting, crochet and sewing and most of it is for family and friends particularly the Grandchildren lately. I always include a crafted gift for Birthdays and Christmas.

  4. Your wonderful stitching is what originally drew me to your blog. I DO give most of my stitching away. It brings joy to gift it, both to me and those that have received it. I also gift for fund raisers.

  5. I've done it all. Created quilts, rugs, needlework, wee little sheep and more and given them as gifts, sold them at shows and bazaars, etc. I still have a stash of quilts and needlework put away for the right person or occasion. I quit giving my handwork and weavings to friends and family though when I discovered they might not really appreciate it. When a rug I hooked was used as a back door mat, when a handwoven table-runner I wove of my handspun and hand-dyed wool yarn from my flock of sheep was mis-used terribly by someone I thought could appreciate it... both given as gifts to someone I love, I realized maybe I should have given them something I bought and maybe they did not appreciate hand work as I do. Maybe what I make is not their "cup of tea".I decided I would rather sell such creations , because if someone buys it they must have appreciated it in the first place, or save them until I can find them the right home.
I like Carol-Beads and Birds does, "gift for fund raisers". That's a thought! .

You do beautiful work, I bought some a few years back and love what you do!

  6. I am now very careful about giving away my stitched items. Just like Kathy B. I had some bad experiences and seldom give my stuff away anymore. Your gallery of stitcheries is very nice, Kathleen, and I enjoyed seeing all of them again!

  7. Most of the items that I make go to family and occasionally to friends. My thought is once it leaves my hands, it theirs to do with as they please. I know that not everyone will treasure handmade items like I do but it was made with love and my hope is that they get enjoyment out of it. I have also donate to fundraisers and have items all around the house and a few stashed on shelves. And still I make more....

  10. Like everyone else here, I have given a lot of my work away to friends and family, most of whom have told me they treasure it, but one friend (no longer) had something I made for her, and when we had a falling out, I asked if I could have it back, but I never heard from her, and suspect my weeks of stitching ended up in her rubbish tin...:-(
Kathleen, I love your Gallery! How did you do that? I have been wanting to set up a web page like that for the photos of my work, instead of just recording it on my blog.
