giving me much inspiration for my embroidery work.
A large majority of these flowers are daisies.
There are several different types of daisy in yellow,
and there are several different types of daisy in
white.
These are call ox-eyed daisy because of their large centers.
They have a broad type petal.
These are longer and taller daisies with large button
like centers and slender white petals.
and I am always drawn to these very tiny white daisies that are only a
few inches high and the flower is only about the size of a large match head.
They grow in large sprawling clumps along the ground and
look so cheery.
So I decided to work them into my embroidery .
I usually stay away from white thread floss for flowers,
but this really worked for this flower basket.......
don't you think?
There are also other colorful wildflowers growing in
in abundance and at this moment the air is filled with
their fragrance.
What is better ......than to take a long walk with the one you love
and to be given a bouquet of wildflowers??
How about you?
Do you have wildflowers popping up around you?
What is your favorite?
I would love to hear?
My mom loves daisies, so I'm always drawn to them too. It's amazing to see flowers blooming somewhere now-for me anyway. Today I did more cutting of old dead flower stalks and grasses. I do see some lovely purple violets in bloom, and a few crocus. I really need to buy bushels of early spring flowers next fall, and plant them. Usually by the end of April we're mowing lawns here-but it may be later because of the cold.
ReplyDeleteI always love your embroidery!
You do those most beautiful embroidery! I have a post to do about wildflowers for tomorrow. It's a unique flower I saw in the forest. But yes, the wildflowers are blooming like crazy here right now. I always loved Texas bluebonnets! Hugs!
ReplyDeleteThe basket of flowers that you embroidered are beautiful.
ReplyDeleteNo wild flowers popping up here yet, but they will be soon. Daisies are my favorite but a close second is black eyed Susan's.
Such a beautiful basket of flowers that you have embroidered. I love all the flowers around on the moors throughout the summer here but am still learning their names and varieties. It is a joy to discover something that I have never seen before.
ReplyDeleteAll of your flowers are pretty and so nice to look at. Unfortunately, in our yard, all we have to look at right now is snow!
