I have been stitching the late afternoon hours away,
placing hundreds of stitches, by hand,
onto layers of design, batting and backing fabric
and have finished 3 quilts.
3 very tiny quilts. Each one measures 7" X 71/2"
each one different and pretty with the hand stitching on front
and with that crinkle quilt look on the back
and they all came from this fabric which is close to 30 years old.
I purchased this fabric a long while back, with the intentions of
making tiny quilts .......but along came other things in life
to keep busy with and the fabric was placed away.
I came upon it a few months ago and decided to start to working
the printed quilts into miniature quilts.
I will hang some for decoration, use some for the doll boxes I
make and who knows what others can serve a purpose for?
I know that some of you are still keeping busy at home, working, homeschooling,
parenting, and other many tasks that this time has thrown upon you,
but do you spend a little time stitching......or doing some other kind
of creative work? Have you found something stashed away, years ago , and have started to work on it? I would love to hear!
Wow, those tiny quilts are wonderful and your hand stitching just lovely. Thanks for sharing and have a great weekend ~ FlowerLady
ReplyDeleteThese are lovely. You have done a beautiful job. Love things in the "tiny".
ReplyDeleteGreat little quilts, Kathleen! I expect to see at least one of them in a doll box. Being home all the time does give one a chance to work on "old" projects, but it seems I just can't get motivated to do much. We chose not to grow chickens this summer, and maybe retire for good, so I've spent a lot of my time working with my flower beds. They've brought me much peace. The farmer had a heart attack in early May and had a stent put in so I have taken over the job of feeding grain to the cattle. I do have a few things which I work on now and then. Blogging is on hold again too, but it's wonderful to read what you are doing.
ReplyDeleteThe tiny quilts are beautiful! You make me want to pull out a needle and thread, right now! You do such beautiful work.
ReplyDeleteI love the patterns in the cloth, and the colors are just wonderful. But, best of all are your tiny stitches!
ReplyDeleteThese are exquisite. What a find-so glad you saved them all those years.
ReplyDeleteI have a small pile of patching I want to do on some blue jeans, with embroidery-but so far I have just looked at the pile. Haven't gotten out the thread and needle!
Lovely.
ReplyDeleteWow, those tiny quilts are a delight they are stunning.

Your little quilts are just lovely! I'm sure they were very relaxing to work on. I haven't visited your blog in quite a while, it's good to see you are doing well!
ReplyDeleteThese are absolutely adorable, Kathleen! I could never do this; I've probably told you before but I started a quilt when I was 12 and my grandmother finished it! Wish I knew who got it when she passed.
ReplyDeleteYou are so talented!
xoxo
