Our first apartment, when my husband and I started our lives together, had the color orange almost everywhere on it and in it. We were just starting out and the apartment was very reasonable for our budget, and so the little white 2 story apartment , with very bright orange trim, became our home.
I am not sure whether the landlord found a great deal on orange paint, or whether his interior decorator wife just loved the color, because the carpet was burnt orange as well.
Yet, it was a happy sweet home for the newlyweds, but I knew in my heart that I would never buy orange paint for anything that we would come upon later.
As the years passed, I found a passion for growing pumpkins..........mostly because of their large beautiful green leaves and the way they stretch over the grounds................then it happened.............
I am crazy about the color orange! I love a certain yellow now that I didn't pay much attention to previously. It's kind of a yellow ochre. It's the color of some of our trees right now. I think orange is very rich. It makes my eyes happy.
ReplyDeleteThe sunrise/sunset was a joy to see the natural beauty a real delight.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pumpkin cross stitch! And I love your table setting!
ReplyDeleteI used to like mostly bright colors when I was younger and now I almost always choose the more muted colors. I guess we just sometimes change as we age.
When my parents built their first home after living in their stater home for many years, my mom told us kids we could pick out our own colors for our bedrooms. I picked the color orange with black curtains and bedding. I loved it then, but not my choice now. LOL
ReplyDeleteYears ago I had a house with orange carpet in the living room. It wasn't my favorite color but I had a brown sofa and the living room ended up looking nice. Love that colorful thread and pretty stitching! Happy October!
ReplyDeleteI've always liked orange, but it has been a come and go sort of relationship. Sometimes there is no orange in my life and then suddenly it's everywhere! Right now I am especially loving the vintage oranges and greens and every other color in the the reproduction fabrics from the Civil War forward. We are a creative people and I love seeing what each and every creative one is doing. You included!
ReplyDeleteThis time of year orange is perfect. I love that punkin you grew, maybe next year I'll try, I bought 2 mini punkins maybe 4" in diameter. After Thanksgiving, I'll take the seeds out and try to grow them.
ReplyDeleteI love the colour orange but sadly I can't wear it, my skin and hair tones are completely wrong for yellows and oranges! But that doesn't stop me having orange coloured things around my home :-) I remember houses here in the 1970's were decorated with orange and Mission Brown. Our house still has Mission Brown beams and door frames, but the walls and doors are creamy white.
