The November days are growing chilly......and I wanted to make
for myself a comfortable sweater. Thinking upon a design for the sweater,
I only had to turn to the beauty of nature at this time of year...........
leaves.
I love to make sweaters from sweatshirts. I usually stencil
paint a design onto the sweatshirt, but this time,
I used a hot iron transfer and hand painted the
leaves and design
then I embroidered the design
The paint ran in a few spots....but in time it will eventually
fade with the laundering.
I made the design to run along the neckline and down just
a bit on one front half,
and on one lower half of one sleeve,
and I finished the front edges with a buttonhole stitch hem.
It turned out vibrant and pretty.
It is comfortable to wear.........not too hot and heavy
and warm enough against the chill.
So tell me.......what are you in the process of creating?
Here's wishing you lovely autumn days ahead with
a wonderful Thanksgiving full of
memorable moments.
You are so creative to make a sweater out of a sweatshirt. It looks really good. I bet it was a lot of fun and satisfaction to create this lovely piece.
ReplyDeleteI'm looking forward to your next creation.

Oh goodness! This is beautiful! I have been thinking of embroidering a painting-but my embroidery is a bit wonky! I'm not very good at it! Have a beautiful Thanksgiving...
ReplyDeleteI'm thrilled, you did a wonderful job embroidering this shirt... your approach to painting is terrific. Wonderful.
ReplyDeleteI'm gathering my seven things to sew a Japanese apron... my first one, I don't actually wear aprons, but I thought this one was nice :-))) and I can well imagine that it won't stop with this one alone.
I wish you a happy Thanksgiving from the bottom of my heart.

So pretty! In the 80s I would heat bond faux flowers and leaves to sweatshirts and then use fabric paint to decorate around them. I can't imagine they held up too well and wish I had pictures to remember what I tried to create. :) Blessings to you and yours.
