Sharing a common thread with those who love the art of hand embroidery

I finished the little embroidered strip I had started when the cold ice spell set in.
I love the colors of burgundy and pink together. I think this little strip will be perfect to dress up a guest towel.

Now.....the towels. This is where I love to hear your ideas. I have this pretty mauve/pink check,

It would look like this with the embroidery.

This is a moss green towel, though the color did not show up well in this photo,

This is how the embroidery would look with it.

And then there is a larger plaid mauve towel,

Which the embroidery looks like this with it. What do you think the better one would be? I would love to hear.

I am thinking about this green towel for the pansy I showed you all a few posts back. It seems to bring the colors of the embroidery out well. Thank you all for your comments and suggestions. I love to hear from you!

Mauve/pink check, hands down.

The other embroidery works well with the green, go for it.

I can see why you have a tough choice. All are pretty.

Kathleen, I think the moss green with the embroidered strip would be lovely..it picks up the green in the embroidery and makes the design really pop.

I'm actually colorblind:) Green makes me feel that spring is around the corner though:)

I like the embroidery with the moss green, though both are lovely. My thinking is that the mauve / pink is definitely feminine and therefore will limit the use of the finished linen. If you add the embroidery to the moss green towel it allows more options for the final use or gift giving / selling possibilities of your linen.

You've inspired me. I spent super bowl time with the family doing some blue work embroidery and find my rusty embroidery skills are improving. Thanks!

Now Kathleen, how could I possibly choose? It looks great with all of them!

Scale and color wise I would pick the mauve. I spent a few minutes looking around your blog. You do beautiful work.
Needlework is something I collect and occasionally attempt but I'm just not very good at it. I'm much more comfortable with a paint brush.
Blessings.

I love the embroidery!! It would be hard for me to decide too. Go with the majority vote, lol.

Ooooh... that would be a hard choice...
I think the checked (either one) looks wonderful, but I agree with Stephanie- the moss green really makes the little green touches jump out at you. I think any one of them is a winner!

I like the pink/mauve one the best but the green is good too...the green would go in our kitchen very well.....

I like the mauve but either is great - the mauve is more unusual combination I think. Yes on the green and the other piece - your work is beautiful.

ooooo! I like the mauve/pink checks with the daisy rings. SO PRETTY!
And the green waffle with the poppy looks wonderful, too. Great combinations!

Kathleen, I've just finished stitching a tea towel which I started last year! It is a plain linen towel on which I have ironed a vintage transfer. I'll be posting it on to my blog as soon as I've ironed it - keep an eye out!
