after finishing this crocheted doily.
You might remember a couple of posts back that I started this doily a few weeks ago. In the midst of it, I realized that the white thread I had chosen, was way to heavy...........also, I wanted more of a vintage look.
So I started all over............beginning the center with a pink thread, and then crocheted one ring of sage green around that............
then I chose an ecru color thread, much lighter in weight and just love the results.Looks so much prettier........don't you think?
How about you? Have you ever started a project,..........then right in the middle of it............realize it's not what you wanted in color or size? Did you just put it away and forgot about it..........or did you re-do and wound up with a wonderful finished piece?
I would love to hear!

How very pretty Kathleen. This is reminiscent of the crochet that two sisters made back in the 60's. They were elderly neighbors of ours and their home was filled with these home-made treasures.
I'm a 'put away and forget' sort of person, unless I realise early on in the project. Things like a cross stitch project where I miscounted badly, and would have been doing compensation stitches for the remaining 2/3 of the piece. And there's a stumpwork piece that I ended up not living because of the background colour (the dangers of buying fabric on-line).
I knew I didn't like it, but did the work anyway, but it's not on my wall - it's shoved in my fabric stash.
*lovely* colour combination - sage green, rose and ecru! Yum!
That is beautiful.
So pretty! It looks very hard to make, was it? Some times I start over, but sometimes I just throw away. I don't like unfinished projects put away, so I either finish it or out it goes!
Sooo pretty!!!
hi,
Your doily is beautiful.
I have a large table cloth that I started to embroider with rayon thread and then put away because I find rayon thread difficult to work with. You have given me incentive to take out the rayon thread and start again with cotton thread.
I also like to crochet but I find embroidering and quilting more satisfying.
Keep posting your work. Your lovely projects inspire me.
Hi Kathleen,
It turned out so lovely. I can't count the times I've crocheted something and stopped and pulled out the entire thing and started over...sometimes it's the only way to realize what you really want.
We weathered the storms yesterday and lastnight...but we have friends in Alabama that have lost their homes and we are still trying to get in touch with some but all the circuits are busy.
Did you get any part of that storm system?
Hugs,
Stephanie ♥
I have more project put away than I should admit to! You inspire me.
Pat
That's the beauty of crochet -- if you don't like it, you can just unravel and start all over. Your doily turned out beautifully. Wishing you all the best, Tammy
Hi Kathleen, I've just won a cloth on your ebay site, and am waiting for another auction to finish. Do you mind if I wait until that finishes before I pay you? If I do win the second one it will be cheaper (and easier for you) to send both items together.
Thanks!
Hi Gina, just had to comment back to you...........I do not have an ebay acccount.........I do have an estsy shop, but it is not an aution and things there are for sale not to bid on.........perhaps you have me mixed up with someone's else's name on the ebay? I appreciate that you thought it was me......smile. blessings,Kathleen
