..............something pretty!
There is more than chickens, cats and dogs that roam on the grounds of Pleasant Prairie Farm.
Especially in the greenhouse. Mice are a common problem . I try to eliminate them as quickly as possible...........but I have to admit............I find them whimsical............
and cute.
Once particular mouse caught my attention as it scurried along looking for dropped acorns from the oak tree. It was not the usual gray mouse that I am accustomed to seeing.........this one had colors of browns and creams. It was pretty.
This time of year the oak tree has the most colorful leaves...........
The bright colors seem to accompany the mouse real well............
don't you think?
I wanted the mouse's body to look furry, but not the mouse's tail, so I worked it in a different stitch.
It looks as if it is ready to be a character in a children's book............
it needs a name...............
let's have some fun................
What do you think would be a good name?
Is it a boy?..........or a girl mouse??
I would love to hear what your suggestions would be!

Your mouse is so cute! I think it looks like a male mouse, so, I'd probably call him a woodlands mouse. Gee, Wilbur, the woodland mouse has a certain ring to it, I think.
Very, very good choice of colors and stitches for the mouse and leaves. It's precious!
Have you ever heard of "Abel's Island"? It's a childrens book about a mouse, Abelard, who gets lost on an island for a year. Maybe I'm silly, but I like books for young readers. By the way, the author is William Steig.
Mice are hard..in the house, its easy to think of them as pests. Outside, heck, they are just too darned cute. Live and let live I say, as long as they are outside.
I sure like your mouse and I'm calling her Trixie because she tricked you into thinking she lives outside!!
Maybe a boy named Ceasar. And, my, oh my, I have never really admired a mouse like I do this one, no matter what you name him...beautiful embroidery!
Such a cute little mouse! The stitches and colours used are beautiful and perfect! Oh, it is a SHE mouse and I would like to suggest the name "Amy" :).
Your embroidered mouse is absolutely gorgeous and the real mouse is adorable, too! How about Mortimer Mouse for his name?
Beautiful.
I know what you mean about the greenhouse. They will eat everything.
You have embroidered the mouse very well . I also liked the colourful leaves around. Your choice of stitches is perfect!:)
Your embroidery is so perfect. The stitches look just like fur. The only name I could think of was Timothy, as in Timothy Titmouse. I think that was from Beatrix Potter, maybe?
Well mice be cute...but I want them far away. I would call her "Teeny"

Your mouse is too adorable! I love your stitching. I think it's a girl, Annie OAKley!
the mouse is cute and once again, I marvel how you notice the objects around and make them them embroidered! great job :)
Hi Sweet Friend, I love your sweet little mouse. I think He is boy and his name might be Buster. Like nut buster since he is in search of tree nuts and acorns. LOL
Anyway, the pic is great and I noticed the mouse has round ears. Usually these are a common house mouse while the pointed ear mice are field mice or deer mice.
Your stitch work is amazing. I actually have a little mouse in my post today too.
hugs, Celestina Marie
Just darling! I love your wonderful embroideries. He's a little boy gathering nuts for the winter! I like Wilbur too!
Very sweet, your talent captured him or her well,
You absolutely amaze me, Kathleen!!! You find sweetness and beauty in everything even pesky mice. Though I do agree that they can be rather cute.
You certainly achieved the affect you wanted. He looks quite furry, but not the tail...perfect. I love the colors and the pose with the acorns and leaves. Simply wonderful!!
Oh, he definitely looks to me like a Mr. Happenstance...Mr. Barnaby P. Happenstance is quite the friendly little neighbor. Not one for making a lot of noise, just drops by for an occasional acorn or two. He never means to bother, but loves to take in the autumn air, collect pretty fall leaves, and nibble on an acorn with his afternoon tea.
Thank you for sharing your delightfully talented embroidery, and for introducing us to your animal friends.
Enjoy the day,
Marianne xo
O my...it's not that I don't like them...I don't like them in my kitchen for sure...If they would just stay outside I'd be fine..lol...You did a wonderful job as always..your draw so well..Since baby was on the way I just didn't have the time to work on my leaves...anyhow its just pretty ....Happy Monday with love Janice
Well done!!
*hugs*deb
This is my first time to visit your lovely blog. Somehow I found one of your other blogs first. Your embroidery reminds me very much of a couple of pieces I inherited from my grandmother more than 20 years ago. Your work is very beautiful. Thank you for sharing it. Your recipes on you other blog remind me of my grandmother's cooking. I can almost taste her homemade chicken and dumplings or chicken soup right now. Thank you for reminding me of so many dear memories.
Thanks for stopping by with so many kind words regarding my many challenges lately.By taking one day at a time,we will get through it,although at times, it may seem like an impossible task.
Love your needlepoint. I have done a bit of it in my lifetime, butI always seem to be drawn more strongly,to other crafts.
Such a cute mouse. The colours you've chosen are truly beautiful & I loved those acorns.
It is adorable! I love it! It does remind me of a children's book illustration!
Such a sweet little mousie! Love everyone's name suggestions.
