and catching my attention
as they sway in the breeze on the prairie grounds
how could I resist the opportunity to capture them in
my hand embroidery?
I also gathered some seed......in hopes to get them to grow next year in my flower beds.
A good while back, I posted my version of a zinnia in my embroidery
and .......then.......I got busy on another project and didn't finish the rest of the piece
this week, I finally finished the jar I designed it in
and finished the leaves and stem
now the piece is complete.
As most of you know.......I love zinnias and plant large gardens of them every year.
And I love to cut and place them in mason jars for the dining table.

I have a small collection of vases but my favourite to display my flowers are jugs, I have a large earthenware one that I love. The Mexican cone embroidery was amazing, you are one talented lady.
Lovely flowers and those flowers came alive again thru your embroidery. finished piece of jar and zinnia is beautiful.

I have never seen those coneflowers because if I ever did, I'd be grabbing them up. Love that you embroidered them. Such a unique plant!!

Such strange looking flowers! I've never seen these; we have purple cone flowers. You've captured the flowers perfectly in your work. I have an old blue bottle that is one of my favorite "vases" and sometimes I also use mason jars. There is an arrangement of blue hydrangeas on my dining table now; they are such interesting flowers.
I've never heard of the Mexican hat flowers. They are beautiful!
What interesting flowers! I, also, have never heard of them. What fun it must be to watch them bloom.

Kathleen, your flowers are beautiful, and as always, you have replicated them true to form. Your zinnia is lovely - yes, I love to have flowers on my table or counter top, though I don't have them often. The store bought don't seem to be the same.

I haven't seen that sort of coneflower before, so pretty, but your embroidered one is just stunning, I especially love the top part of the flower. You have captured it perfectly. I use all sorts of vases and even old sauce bottles to hold flowers.

If I send you some photos of Australian wildflowers, would you embroider one for me? Just kidding, Kathleen! You are so skilful with needle and thread I have no doubt you would create something uniquely beautiful.
I don't mind fresh flowers on our table,but they leave such a mess when they are finished dropping leaves and petals :-( I usually have a bunch of artificial (silk) roses in a vase on our table. They belonged to my late mother in law, and for years I thought they were fresh flowers because they look so real. So I was glad to 'inherit' them when the family were clearing her house. Nobody else wanted them!
I love Coneflowers!...just planted a few in my new flower bed...they are much easier to grow where we live now...but never heard of Mexican Coneflowers...look cool!!
