Sharing a common thread with those who love the art of hand embroidery

Snowflakes are gathering at the

back door window,

the back entry window,
along the wall,

and drifting down on the old piano.

I found a "snowflake crochet" booklet at  a junk store
and fell in love with the lacey snowflakes on the cover.
These pretty pieces are made with cotton bedspread crochet thread.
I have only made a few and need a lot more practice to
make mine look as pristine and perfect as they do
in the booklet.
I really enjoyed the process of  crocheting them and
have several plans on how to use them.......
which I will show at a later date.
Do you like thread crochet over yarn crochet?

I also came upon a pattern of crocheted roses.
These are also fun to make

as well  as crocheted flowers. I am not sure what
I will use these for...............any ideas??

Along with that I am still busy stitching Christmas and
birthday gifts that are coming up in a few weeks.
Are you creating Christmas gifts.......or do you
prefer to purchase gifts?
I would love to hear!

I love the snowflakes. A little spray starch is great for pulling them into shape, pin them out and spray with a little starch. Hope that helps. I love to make some of my gifts, its usually a combination of both.

I love thread crochet. I taught myself to crochet when I was in high school by crocheting thread doilies. I love the attention that must be paid to the patterns. I'm not sure I have seen roses like you have done here. Are they stitched in a long pattern then rolled and stitched into a rose? they are lovely.

Carol

I like the look of thread crochet. I am still new at learning how to do it-but my love for the finished projects will keep me going!
Your snowflakes are absolutely beautiful.

I really like the kitchen set! What a lovely gift idea!
I guess I prefer yarn crochet; it's always difficult for me to change to a smaller hook. When I do thread crochet, I take my instructions to the copy machine, then mark off each row on the copy as I proceed. This keeps me on the right row. :) I just make things and have them on hand for when I need a gift.

I love those snowflakes. My sister made some years ago and I think I still have the booklet. I like making gifts...handmade is so much nicer to give AND receive! Hugs, Diane

Those are very delicate and pretty snowflakes and I really love the roses, too. I don't crochet at all but I admire those who can and I enjoyed seeing those beautiful pieces!
