at all times, and my workbasket is overflowing at the moment
with things I want to do.
This is my latest finish.........it is my own design
I drew, tinted, and then hand embroidered it to match one of my
vintage dishes.
The plate is from the Homer Laughlin China Co.
and the pattern is Gold Fleur De Lis/rim, Cavalier 1950s-60s
Amongst some of the things in the workbasket are these
wonderful stamped holiday sets that were given to me close to
30 years ago.
The Christmas "Doves and Holly" set contains 6 napkins and a large lovely
table runner. I am always in the mood to work on some kind of Christmas themed thing
at this time of year.......do you feel the same?
It is designed to work satin stitch in marked areas with different
color floss over the entire designs. I just do not want to take that long
to work all of these pieces and I do not want that kind of look.
So I tinted the matching colors from the floss list
and embroidered ,so far, one napkin like this.
I like this result much better.........what do you think?
I really hope to have this set finished before the Christmas season gets here.
How about you? Do you start working on Christmas decor or Christmas
gifts at this time of year? Do you get everything you hoped to
finished? I would love to hear!
You are very talented and your embroidery pieces and work are amazing. The reproduction of the design on the plate is perfect. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteI started a Christmas quilt years ago, I got busy working at the farm and it still sits in a drawer in the closet. I kind of forgot about it.
Hugs,
Julia
What an amazing job you did with your stitchery. I am very impressed. KUDOS to YOU!!! Janice
ReplyDeleteYour embroidery work is great and I love vintage.
ReplyDeleteAs a child and teenager, I embroidered a lot with my mother... tablecloths, cushions and handkerchiefs. It had been forgotten for many years. But for some time now I've been enjoying it again and I like embroidered items on all the tables. I'm also always on the lookout for flea markets and then buy myself beautiful old embroidery work... I knit, sew a lot and rarely embroider myself. Too little time? Maybe I should do it... :-)))
I really appreciate your wonderful work... the Christmas quilt is going to be amazing.
I'm in summer fever... it's so nice here with us... but soon the work for Christmas will start.
Greetings to you.
Hug Viola
I love how you tinted the flowers. It really makes it stunning.
ReplyDeleteLooking at your work inspires me to put other chores aside and pick up a needle. Last month after looking at your blog, I mended a quilt with fall colors that I had made years ago. Some of the seams had pulled apart during laundry and it was shoved in a closet. It was too hot to hold it in my lap so I rolled a comfortable chair over to the upstairs banister, hung the quilt over the rail, and meticulously repaired each little rip. It was so relaxing.
