Queen Ann's Lace....... usually has pristine white

petals,
however, I wanted to embroider them on a pristine white background,
and chose and off white color of floss instead..........to make the flower show up.....
which seems to work well........don't you think?

I also wanted a full color to this mason jar but did not
want to spend hours filling it in with tiny stitches.......
that would cause the jar to lose it's true design,
so I used crayons to color the jar, some of the leaves, and a slight
green color underneath the Queen Ann's Lace
I then embroidered the lines of the jar, leaves, and flower.

and it made the design look almost like a
real Atlas jar of Queen Ann's Lace

To tint your design with crayons, color your design with the crayons of  your choice,
then cover the design with white paper towel.
With a hot dry iron, press over the paper towel.........
keep doing this with paper towels until there is no color left
on the paper towel.
This has set your color into your fabric.
Then embroider your design as you wish.

Oh I agree, the off white flowers worked perfectly! Delightfully pretty, Kathleen - as usual. You are very talented. Will this be going into your shop? I hope all is well with you and you are enjoying the autumn so far. Still very warm in my neck of the woods.

Blessings to you, my friend,
Marianne

This is a lesson learned. Thanks for sharing. Love the look of the colored glass canning jar. Made it look so real. The flowers are beautiful.

Beautiful as always. What type of crayon is needed? It really does look amazing.

Perfect!! And ~ if the color does fade, after a time, in the washing, it can be colored again!

Really beautiful. It is amazing what you can do with thread and needle. And even crayons! :) Have a good week.

Your stitching on this wild flower is perfection and tinting the jar was just the right touch. I've used crayons on fabric a lot. Some of my kids favorite pillow cases when they were little were drawn and colored by them.

I really love this piece.

I love this! Thanks for the tips on the crayons! I actually recently saw a crayon-coloring technique for fabric (see my quilting blog for more info) that was more involved. I would like to try both methods. Yours seems quite a bit easier!
