to 3 very busy small children, I would look through my cross stitch magazines several times,........marking the ones that I wanted to someday cross stitch...................for someday , after my children got bigger and when I finally had the time to actually stitch .
I even found the floss that was needed for each design and placed it in a large Ziploc bag with the magazine that the pattern was in, and then stored it away in a box..................for later. Now the years have swiftly flown by, my children have grown and don't need my attention. As I was going through my books, the vibrant fall colors of the floss in one bag called out to me and my memory .....................
of a set of 4 designs, one for each season,........of an item on a clothesline with the same little bluebird perched somewhere on the line.
This is the Fall design and I just love these colors most of all! I was surprised to see how many different oranges, browns and beiges were in this one design. It is stitched on an 8x10 light blue cross stitch fabric. The design measures about 7 x 4 inches. I think this set will look adorable when framed and hung on the wall above the dryer in my laundry room. I am starting the winter design next.............can you guess what it will be? It is just as charming as the sock.
How about you?
Do you have seasonal sets of something to cross stitch or embroider?
What colors do you like the best?
I would love to hear!

Another beautiful example of your work!! I haven't done cross stitching in several years, and don't have anything seasonal, but I do have days of the week designs I'd like to do. Whenever I'm in the hayfield, looking at the trees, I see all shades of greens and blacks, and think of cross stitch patterns.
Sometimes I think my daughters are jealous of the time I have to sew, etc.; they still have family obligations.
I so remember those cross stitching days (Leisure Arts?). I actually got some things done, late in the evening. Now it seems I like cross stitch again. (I think it is having a come-back.) I am planning to do a couple of fall and Halloween designs. I like those fall colors too.
What a sweet little stitching. I have so many patterns in books and magazines, copied from friends or printed from the internet. Before kids, I did big projects with lots of colors and lots of backstitching, but that all seems very daunting now. Many of my older patterns are country inspired because that used to be my decorating style. I do have many seasonal patterns, but lately I just do simple projects. But when I see stitchings like yours, it makes me want to do more. :) Hope you are having a good week. Tammy
What beautiful work you do! I love cross stitch, but life if just so busy I don't have time to do it! The one thing I do is a little cross stitch ornament for each grandchild every Christmas..
Beautiful work! My last child graduated high school last year and I've taken this opportunity to start on my own passion. Now my daughter shares in my passion and we're starting our business. It's never too late. We've started on etsy as well at blinginblooms.
Wow! I just love the beautiful fall cross stitching. You do such beautiful work. This is so pretty. I sure hope you have a great Labor Day.
