Tinted California Poppy

I have had this design for the longest time.......I found it somewhere on the internet and knew that someday I would like to trace it off to embroider it.  I found a lovely vintage dresser scarf in my stash
and traced off the design onto that,
and then tinted the poppies and leaves .  I like to tint some embroidery designs, especially if the design if fairly large.  I have often wanted to plant and grow poppies, they are such a lovely flower.
I have tried sowing poppy seeds for years, but they just do not want to sprout for me.
So the best way for me to enjoy them, is to let my needle bring them to life.

Awake, thou wintry earth,
      Fling off thy sadness!
Fair vernal flowers, laugh forth
      Your ancient gladness...
                                               T. Blackburne, "An Easter Hymn"
Here's wishing you a blessed and happy Easter holiday.

Hello Kathleen, it's been a while, I hope I remembered your name correctly. Your poppy embroidery is beautiful and I love the way you tinted it. It's good to see you are still blogging.

I use to live in California and I remember the poppies that grew there. Sometimes alongside a mountain there would be a burst of the orangey color. Your poppies in embroidery are beautiful. The tinting adds so much to your needlework.
